Shouldn’t it be easy for famous people to raise money? Well, no, actually they, too, still struggle to find adequate funding to address the huge community need in the L.A. basin. But WHY?
Actors and Others for Animals is a nonprofit animal services agency in North Hollywood, California that raises funds for its medical treatments and Ferrell cat trapping service. They have used the power and face of their high-profile celebrity board and president over several decades, touting many impressive accomplishments for the welfare of small pets.
As this non-profit is one of many animal agencies in Los Angeles’ overburdened pet assistance system, my goal as a fictional consultant was to expose and address the underlying reasons for the undue amount of burden on this and other area animal nonprofits.
I wrote a well-researched funding proposal that explains how cultural, economic, political, and geographical factors negatively interact with the Los Angeles County dog and cat shelter system, leading to an endless cycle of catch and release. It outlines a specifically targeted community educational plan to foster new practices that would help end this cycle.
Really!
