No one wants to plow through complex legalize looking up statutes online for the lawful use of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms. The State of Utah statutory code proved to be cumbersome for the average person to scan online.
Oddly, the alcohol statutes were intermixed with the tobacco and firearms statutes in random order using a formal Times New Roman font, poor spacing, and no graphics or rational document design.
To reach the intended audience effectively, this online document needed simpler visual format, style, voice, and sentence structure using conversational speech for quicker, easier comprehension. It also needed new sentence sequence, topics divided into separate themed sections, and the addition of color photos and graphics.
A special section for higher penalty violations and an uncomplicated youth section made the document come alive as a truly accessible family "guide."
