How do you integrate the image of a scruffy farm animal like a donkey with the iconic glamour of Cleopatra in the online marketing of a cosmetic product? This was the challenge of the Cleopatra Beauty Line online e-commerce site. Featuring organic soaps, lotions, creams, and masks made of 100% organic donkey milk, it needed a compelling home page that conveyed the wholesome, scientifically backed benefits of this animal by-product with the magic of the last Egyptian Pharaoh.

Cleopatra is indeed said to have used donkey milk for her skin, an ancient beauty practice that is just as effective in today’s modern times. The original photo of a donkey in a pasture with a milk bottle beside it was actually being used in 2022 on the company’s website home page without any Cleopatra imagery at all. There was no significant banner design at the top or adequate hierarchy on the page, and the busy-looking, crowded copy utilized inconsistent font sizes.
Our design team conceptualized new, gleaming, gold imagery reflecting the color and mystery of Queen Cleopatra’s visage combined with the soft donkey watermark and farm fresh product packaging positioned in the foreground. In a quick glance, the striking, new visual story is simply yet clearly conveyed, more effectively compelling the reader to investigate the details of this fascinating cosmetic line.
